How to Ping on PS3

The word "Ping" describes a process of testing the speed of your Internet connection on any Internet-capable device. If you typically play PS3 games without an Internet connection, you do not need to worry about the speed of your connection. However, if you enjoy playing online multi-player games or you frequently download items from the PlayStation store, you need a network with adequate speed. Determine if your network offers enough speed by using a Ping test.

Instructions

  Turn on your PS3 and wait for the Home Screen to load.

  Push the right joystick to the left until you highlight "Network."

  Move the right joystick down until you highlight "Internet Browser." Press the "X" button.

  Highlight the current URL and enter "Pingtest.net." You can enter this by pressing the "Start" button and moving the right joystick over the onscreen keyboard. Select a letter with "X." Alternatively, type it in with a USB keyboard attachment.

  Move the right joystick over the Pingtest webpage until the cursor is over "Begin Test." Press the "X" button to start the test. When the test finishes, the results will display on screen.
