How to Play a PS3 in Surround Sound

The Sony PlayStation 3 is a next generation video game platform that not only provides high-definition video, but surround sound audio as well. Once the PS3 is connected to a surround sound system you can enjoy all of your favorite games with fully engulfing sound. The necessary cable is not provided with the PS3, so you do need to purchase it in order to connect the devices. The cable is available at your local electronics store.

     Plug the digital optical audio cable into the "Digital Audio Out" port on the PlayStation 3.

     Insert the opposite end of the cable into one of the "Optical In" ports on the surround sound system you are using.

     Power on the PS3 and the surround sound system. Select the digital input you are using and the sound from the video game begins to play over the speaker system.
