How to Convert HDMI to the Port for PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 is capable of being connected to a television set in three ways. You can use standard composite video and audio cables, which are the types of RCA cables used for years to connect devices to old standard definition TVs. You can use composite video and audio cables, which are capable of transmitting video in up to 1080i resolution. Finally, you can use HDMI cables, which are capable of transmitting video in full 1080p.

      Connect your PlayStation 3 to your HDTV television set with an HDMI cable. The PlayStation 3 has an HDMI output on the back of its case, and your HDTV will have at least one HDMI input on the back of its case. No standard definition television set has an HDMI input, so if you have a standard definition TV you won't be able to complete this task.

      Turn on your PlayStation 3.

      Select "Settings."

      Choose "Display Settings."

      Choose "Video Output Settings." From this window, highlight "HDMI" and press "X" on your PlayStation 3 controller. Your PlayStation 3 will now be outputting video across the HDMI cable to your TV.
