Turn on the main power switch. This switch is located in the rear of the PS3.
Verify that the AC power cord is securely inserted into the PS3's electrical outlet, which is located in the rear of the device. Also verify that the power cord is inserted into a working power outlet.
Look for a flashing red light, or red and green, power indicator light on the front of the PS3. If the power indicator on the front of the console flashing red, or flashing both red and green, but the system still does not operate, the temperature inside the console has risen too high. Remove anything that could be blocking the console vents, and verify that the system is not being used in a location that is hot, high in humidity or located in direct sunlight. Hit the "Power" button to turn the console off and allow it to completely cool down.
Suck dust from the PS3 system vents with a low-powered vacuum cleaner.
Hold down the PS3 "Power" button for approximately 10 seconds until the device powers on. This will cause the system to reset itself.
