How to Play PC Games Using a PlayStation Controller

Many avid video game players prefer to play using controllers like those found on consoles like the Xbox or Playstation 3 (PS3). Although many companies produce imitation controllers for the PC, most do not meet the expectations of loyal PS3 fans. A company called Motion in Joy solved this problem by creating the only set of drivers that allow users to connect their PS3 controller to the PC and use it to play their favorite games.

Instructions

  Navigate to the Motion in Joy website (see Resources) and download the device drivers that correspond to your version of Windows.

  Double-click on the downloaded file and drag the contents to your desktop.

  Double-click on the extracted file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the drivers and control interface application. The control interface application launches automatically when you click the "Finish" button.

  Click "Driver Manager" and connect your PS3 controller to the PC via the USB cable.

  Click the "Load Driver" button once Windows finishes installing the device drivers and the notification balloon disappears from the system tray.

  Click the "Quickstart" link and press the "Vibration Testing" button to verify that Windows detects the controller properly.

  Load a PC game that supports game pad controls and select the PS3 controller from the list of available control types and begin playing.
