What Should I Do If I Overcharge My PS3 Bluetooth?

Your PlayStation 3 Bluetooth headset is a marvel of modern electronics, being a complex amalgam of wireless technology, miniature speakers and rechargeable batteries. However, if you are not careful you can overcharge the batteries and hurt their ability to store a charge. If you overcharge your Bluetooth headset, it will get hotter, even to the point of you not being able to wear the headset. This can be countered with a few simple steps and some patience.

Instructions

Touch the Bluetooth headset, and feel if it is warm. If it is, take it out of the charging pedestal immediately by pulling it out by hand. If it is hooked up via a USB wire, disconnect the wire from the rear of the headset by hand.

Hold down the power button for five seconds to turn the headset off. It will go off after it has played its power melody. Set the headset to the side for half an hour to allow it to cool off. If it is already cool, examine the plastic casing of the headset for any cracks. The cracks are indicators of battery bulge that is caused by an overheated and malfunctioning battery. If there are cracks, send the headset to Sony to have the custom battery replaced. If the headset is not cracked, the battery is fine.

Press the power button for five seconds to turn it on. Leave the headset on until it has fully discharged its power; this can be sped up by pairing the headset to a phone or the PlayStation and having it play music. Once the battery is fully discharge, plug the headset back into the charger pedestal and allow the Bluetooth headset to recharge. Take the headset out once the light on the headset is green to stop it from overcharging again.
