How to Test the Connection Speed for a PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 game console allows users to connect to the Internet using both wired and wireless connections. If you are using your PS3 to play games online or download media, updates and games, you may be interested in finding out how quickly your PS3 uploads and downloads information over the Internet connection you created. Fortunately, the PS3 has a function that allows you to test your Internet connection. The Internet Connection Test gives you all the information you need to know about your connection.

     Power on your PS3 and navigate to the Settings menu on the XMB main menu.

     Scroll down the list using the D-Pad or Left Stick and select "Network Settings" by pressing X.

     Scroll through the list of options until you find "Internet Connection Test" and press the X button. Wait for the connection test to complete and the PS3 will show you the results automatically. The Connection Speed results are located near the bottom of the list.
