How to Play a Video From a USB on PS3

The PlayStation 3 allows you to play media (including video) directly from your USB flash drive. USB flash drives that require proprietary software are not guaranteed to work on the PS3. Only the following video formats are supported: DIVX, MP4, AVI, MPEG 1 and MPEG 2. Depending on the type of file, some playback controls may not function properly or at all.

     Turn on the PS3. Insert the USB drive into any available USB port on the PS3.

     Select the "Video" subsection from the XMB navigation menu (the menu that first loads when you turn the PS3 on).

     Select "Display All" to bring up a list of all folders and playable content available. Select the video from the USB drive that you want to play.
