How to Connect a PS3 to a Surround Sound System

Although the PlayStation 3 (PS3) connects to your television, it also has audio ports that enable you to connect it to a surround sound system for an enhanced gaming experience. According to the PlayStation manual, the PS3 supports 2-channel, 5.1 and 7.1 channel outputs and requires an HDMI cable or optical cable, which is sold separately from the gaming console. In addition to manually configuring the PS3 with the surround system, you must also adjust your PS3’s audio settings to take advantage of the supported speaker configuration.
