How to Connect an Extra Remote for PS3

Sony's PlayStation 3 game console allows you to connect up to seven controllers to your system at once. Although there are few instances where you might need anything close to seven players on a single console, setting up an additional controller for a second, third or even fourth player for local multiplayer gaming is easy. Connecting any additional controllers to your console and assigning them a number takes a few seconds.

  Connect your PlayStation 3 controller to one of the PlayStation 3's USB ports using the USB cable included with the console. Your PlayStation 3 will power on if it is not on already. You only need to connect using this wire the first time you use it with your console. This is to register the controller and assign it to that specific console.

  Press the "PlayStation" logo button in the middle of the controller. The console will power on and the lights on the top of the controller will flash. Controllers are designated a player number in the order they connect to the console.

  Change a controller number by pressing the "PlayStation" button on the controller. Go to "Controller Settings" and adjust the number there.
