Things You'll Need
Instructions
Power off any other devices that are potentially eating up your home's bandwidth. The more devices you have connected to your computer's home network, the slower the connection will be. Making it so your PlayStation 3 is the only device connected to the network will help speed things along.
Check your wireless connection to your PS3 if connected wirelessly. Do this by going to the Network Settings option on the PlayStation 3's XMB (Cross Media Bar) and checking your Internet connection. This is portrayed in a percentage out of 100. The closer it is to 100, the better the connection. If you notice the number is low, move your console closer to your wireless router.
Connect your PlayStation 3 directly to your Internet router using an Ethernet cable. This plugs directly into the PS3 console and the router itself. This eliminates the problems caused by a wireless connection entirely.
Download files from the PlayStation Store as you would normally. If you don't notice an increase in speed, try contacting your Internet provider to see if it offers any plans with faster Internet speed.
