How to Install PSP MAC Address Changer V2

All PSP (PlayStation Portable) consoles come with unique MAC (Media Access Control) addresses stored in their wireless cards. The MAC address is used to identify the PSP on the network and cannot be changed by default. However, by using the PSP MAC Address Changer V2, you can replace the default MAC address with a MAC address of your choice. This is a risky procedure, so make sure you use the tool correctly.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Web browser on your computer and navigate to QuickJump Gaming Network's PSP MAC Address Changer v2 webpage (link in Resources). Click on the "Download" link and save the archive to your computer. Right-click on the archive and select the "Extract Here" option to extract the archive in the same folder. Two folders are created: kxploit and nokxploit.

    • 2

Connect the PSP to the computer by using the USB cable that came with the console. Go to "Settings" on the console and select "USB Connection" to make the console appear in Windows as an external storage device.

    • 3

Navigate to the new drive created by Windows for the console, double-click on the "PSP" folder and double-click on the "GAME" folder. Copy the two folders found inside the "kxploit" folder (extracted from the archive) to the "GAME" folder, on your console. Cancel USB mode on the console.

    • 4

Open the "Game" menu on the console, select the "PSP MAC Address Changer V2" program and press "X" on the controller to run it. Press "X" on the controller to dump the console's MAC address. The PSP restarts after it dumps the MAC.

    • 5

Enable the USB mode again, navigate to the new drive and open the "macid.bin" file in your hex editor. The first 12 digits are the console's MAC address.

    • 6

Change the MAC by replacing the digits with numbers from zero to nine and letters from "A" to "F." Do not use any other letters and do not replace any other values except the first 12 digits. Save the "macid.bin" file, overwriting the old one.

    • 7

Disable USB mode and start the "PSP MAC Address Changer V2" tool again. While holding the "Circle" button pressed, use the left trigger on your controller to write the new MAC address in the console's memory. The PSP restarts.

Navigate to the "Settings" menu, go to "System Settings" and select the "System Information" entry to see the new MAC address.
