How to Organize Material in FF VII

Automatic Sort

  Press the "Triangle" button to bring up the menu screen. This can only be done while in the field and will not work during a battle or cut-scene.

  Select "Materia" from the menu screen and press the "X" button.

  Press the "Left" button twice to bring up the materia submenu.

  Select "Arrange" from the submenu and press the "X" button. An arrange submenu will appear. Select "Arrange" from this submenu and press the "X" button. The materia will be sorted by type.

Manual Sort

  Press the "Triangle" button while in the field to bring up the menu screen.

  Select "Materia" from the menu screen and press the "X" button.

  Select the materia you want to move. Press the "X" button to bring up the "Equip" screen.

  Select a character's weapon or armor item and press "X" to equip the materia.

  Press the "Triangle" button to un-equip the materia. The materia will re-appear in the materia inventory without any blank spaces between items.

Organizing Currently Equipped Materia

  Press the "Triangle" button to bring up the menu screen.

  Select "Materia" and press the "X" button.

  Press the "Left" button twice and the materia submenu will appear.

  Select "Remove All" from the submenu and all materia currently equipped by characters will be moved to the materia inventory screen. This will also remove materia from characters not currently in the active party.
