How to Use a PlayStation One Emulator

The PlayStation One remains one of the most popular video game systems of all time, with over 100 million units sold worldwide. Chances are if you bought a PlayStation One when it first released, it conked out on you awhile back. Lucky for you, computers can be used to emulate dozens of video game systems (including the popular PlayStation) without setting up the video game console. As long as you own PlayStation One CD-ROMs, you can play PlayStation One video games on your laptop wherever you please.

Instructions

  Locate the ePSXe 1.7.0 PlayStation emulator from the link provided in the "Resources" section. Scroll down the webpage and click "ePSXe 1.7.0" to save the file to your computer. Below the ePSXe link, click "ePSXecutor 1.0.6.0" to download the file to your computer.

  Open the "ePSXe 1.7.0.zip" file from its saved location in your computer and click the "ePSXe" icon to install the PlayStation One emulator. In the resulting "Extraction Wizard" window, click "Next" to extract the files to a location of your choice on your computer. Click "Finish" to complete the extraction.

  Open the folder on your computer where you saved the ePSXe file and click the ePSXe icon. Click "run" to start the PlayStation emulator.

  Open the "ePSXecutor 1.0.6.0.zip" folder and click the "ePSXecutor" icon. Click "Next" in the Extraction Wizard and extract the contents to the "Plugins" section of the ePSXe folder.

  Download the PlayStation BIOS (also located in the resources section). Click the file "SCPH1001.bin" to download the bios. Drag the "SCPH101.bin" file to the ePSXe folder and place it in the "BIOS" section.

  In the ePSXe emulator, select "Config" and go to "Game Pad". Connect a game pad to a USB port on your computer. The game pad will automatically be assigned to Port 1.

  Insert a purchased PlayStation CD-ROM into your computer's disc drive. Select "File" in the emulator and click "run CD-ROM" to enjoy vintage PlayStation One video games on your computer.
