How to Backup PS1 Games

The Sony PlayStation was one of the first home video game consoles that used the compact disc as its gaming medium. This made it very easy to backup your PS1 games using a computer. Backing up your games is very important as they may become scratched and unplayable in the future. The best part is that all you need to do is create and ISO file of the PS1 disk to back it up. An ISO file is an exact copy of the physical disc.

Things You'll Need

Magic ISO Maker
Imgburn
Alcohol 120%

Instructions

  Download and install Magic ISO Maker, Imgburn or Alcohol 120%. Insert your PS1 game into your computer&'s disk drive.

  Open Magic ISO Maker and click the drive that is holding the PS1 game. Click "Save" and select a place to save the ISO file. Click "OK" and the ISO file will be created automatically.

  Open Imgburn and click "Create image file from disc." Click the "Source" button and click the disk drive that your PS1 game is in. Click the "Destination" button and select a place to save the ISO file. Click the green arrow to create the ISO file.

  Open Alcohol 120% and click "Image Making Wizard." Click the "Source" button and select your drive that the PS1 game is in. Click the "Datatype" button at the bottom-right of the screen and click "PlayStation." Click "Next" and select a place to save ISO file. Click "Start" to create the PS1 backup file.
