How to Play Call of Duty 1
Place the "Call of Duty" disc into the system's CD tray. An auto-play screen should appear, but if it does not you can access the disc by going to the 'My Computer' screen on Windows. For Mac users, an icon should appear on the desktop.
Select install and set a directory for the game. Follow the on-screen prompts and the game should be installed quickly.
Double-click the executable "Call of Duty" file. This can be found on the desktop and in the "Call of Duty" folder on your computer's hard drive. Windows users also can access it through the programs tab of the start menu.
Choose between playing the single-player campaign or competitive multiplayer. You will need a working internet connection to play multiplayer.
Move through the game with the WASD and mouse controller setup. Left-click on the mouse to shoot, press 'R' to reload, 'C' to crouch and the space bar to Jump. The 'ESC' key will access a menu that will allow you to fine-tine controls or set other in-game options. You can also connect a PC or Mac-compatible game controller.
Progress through the game by completing mission-specific objectives. These will include protecting a specific non-playable character, disarming certain weapons, or disabling a certain amount of enemy soldiers.
Save your progress often to avoid having to repeat missions you have already completed. The game features an auto-save function, and can be manually saved by pausing and selecting save.
