How to Tell the Difference Between PSP Slim & Original

The Sony PSP Slim was released as the second version of the PlayStation Portable (PSP). There are a few differences between the original PSP and the PSP Slim, but you might need a tape measure and a scale to ascertain them. The bigger differences are between the original PSP and the PSP Go, which is much smaller and even has a slide-out gamepad.

      Turn the PSP Slim over and you will see that the PSP Slim back has a shiny plastic surface when compared with the matte black rear on the original PSP.

      Measure the width of the PSP Slim against that of the original PSP. The PSP Slim is 19 percent thinner than the original PSP.

      Weigh the PSP Slim against the original PSP. The PSP Slim is 33 percent lighter than the original PSP.
