What Types of Memory Cards Can Be Used in a PSP?

Knowing which memory cards will work for your PSP can be a bit confusing. With so many brands and types out there, it is important to make sure you are getting a memory card compatible with your PSP. A couple of memory stick types will work with the PSP, some better than others.
  1. Memory Stick PRO Duo

    • The Memory Stick PRO Duo memory cards are designed for transferring media to the PSP. They come in a variety of sizes, the largest being 32GB, giving you flexibility with prices and storage space. The PRO Duo memory cards are highly recommended for the PSP.

    Memory Stick Duo

    • As the older version of Memory Stick PRO Duo, the Memory Stick Duo memory card works with the PSP but does not have as many storage sizes available and has a slower transfer speed.

    MagicGate Memory Stick Duo

    • MagicGate technology is a form of copy protection that limits the transfer and copying of files to portable devices. Most memory card types come with this technology now, and some devices won't read any card without it. The PSP will accept Memory Stick Duo cards with this technology.

    Memory Stick Micro

    • The Memory Stick Micro is the newer and smaller version of the Memory Stick Duo made for the PSP. It requires an adaptor, sold with the memory card, to be used in older PSP systems. This memory card comes in multiple sizes, the largest of which is 16GB, and you can download and transfer all the normal media types.
