Can the PSP Be Hooked Up to a External Hard Drive?

Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) hand-held game console was released in 2005. Like many hand-held devices, it relies on an external memory card that is inserted into the side of the device. A PSP owner can connect an external hard drive for greater storage space.
  1. USB Hard Drive

    • The PSP can be connected to an external hard drive, which allows the use of a graphical user interface to browse the external drive and transfer files to the PSP. This method requires a mini-USB-to-USB wire, as the PSP has a mini-USB connector.

    PSP Hard Drive

    • You can purchase hard drives that are specially designed for use with the PSP. These devices attach to the game console via the battery slot and memory card slot. Adding such a drive doubles the thickness of the PSP, which can make it difficult for some users to hold.

    Standalone USB Hard Drive

    • This drive is similar to the USB hard drive mentioned in Section 1, but it features external buttons that make it possible to manage files without the use of a graphical user interface.
