Turn off the PSP and remove the battery from the device. Remove the four screws underneath the battery.
Remove the two screws on the opposite end of the battery. Remove the last screw on the bottom edge of the PSP. Place all of the screws to the side.
Pull up firmly on the PSP faceplate to remove it from the PSP. Insert your flathead tool underneath the button bar on the bottom edge of the LCD screen and gently pry off the button bar. Disconnect the button bar cable from the right side of the LCD screen.
Slide your flat tool between the LCD screen and the bracket on the left side of the screen. Twist gently to release the LCD from the screen bracket. Slowly pull the opposite side out. Fold the screen down. Do not pull it completely off.
