How to Fix a PSP From Corrupting the Save Files of a Game

The Sony PSP is a portable video game/media device that was released in 2005. It has been one of the most successful devices in the history of video games, but problems can ensue if the system becomes unstable. Permanent damage may result as well as corruption of your PSP game save data. The only way to fix this problem is to reflash the PSP system software to the device.

Turn on your Sony PSP (if it can be turned on) and select the "System Update" icon on the PSP main menu. This will update your PSP to the most recent update. Select "Update Via Internet" and verify the update by pressing the "X" button on the PSP gamepad. The PSP will reboot. If the problem is fixed, you are done. If the PSP cannot be turned on or if you have already installed the latest system update, proceed to Step 2.
