How to Fix a PSP That Keeps Turning Off When the Charger is Plugged in

The Sony PSP is a powerful portable video game device. It can play video games, movies and music. You can also browse the web and photos. It is considered one of the best portable video game consoles around, but has experienced some bugs. If your Sony PSP is continually restarting itself when you insert the charger, there is a very easy fix that will get you back to playing your games.

      Turn on your Sony PSP and wait for it to boot into the PSP menu, the XMB. If your battery is empty, turn off your PSP and plug the charger into the device and allow it to charge for four hours.

      Navigate to the "Network Settings" page and connect to your local wireless network. Enter your password if it asks you for it.

      Locate the "System Update" icon on the PSP menu and select it. Select "Via the Internet" and the update files will be downloaded onto your PSP. Press the "X" button to install the new update.

      Reboot your PSP by holding the power button up until the PSP turns off. Slide it back up to turn the PSP back on. Reinsert your charger and the PSP will now continue to charge without turning off.
