How to Repair a Sticky PSP Analog Stick

The Sony PSP is the first handheld console to incorporate an analog joystick. During extended gameplay, the joystick can get stuck and become nonfunctional. This is most likely because it has come loose from its slots. Fortunately, this can be fixed simply by opening up the PSP and putting the joystick back in its slot.

Remove the two black screws found in the recessed holes on the right side of the back of the PSP.

    • 4

Remove the silver screw that is found next to the barcode on the bottom of the PSP.

    • 5

Remove the analog stick thumb pad and then remove the PSP faceplate. The joystick pad is located on the faceplate.

    • 6

Remove the two screws that secure the joystick pad to the faceplate.

    • 7

Open the joystick pad. You will see two plates with perpendicular slots that connect to the joystick and allow for up-and-down and left-and-right movement. Slide the joystick back into these slots and securely replace the cover on the joystick pad.
