Hold the battery down with one hand while inserting the guitar pick in the seam between the battery's top and bottom shell with the other. Separate the top shell from the battery and put it aside.
Use the tweezers to grab the plug end of the small circuit board lying on the bottom shell of the battery. Pull the circuit board up and off the shell so that it is almost flat on the newspaper.
Strip the insulation off both ends of the red and black wires with the wire strippers. Locate the small computer chip on the circuit board. Solder one end of the red wire to the left contact plate below the small computer chip. Solder one end of the black wire to the right contact plate below the small computer chip. Let the solder cool.
Solder the other end of the red wire to one of the contacts on the bottom of the micro switch. Solder the other end of the black wire to the other contact on the bottom of the micro switch. Let the solder cool.
Cut a small hole at one corner of the bottom casing with the utility knife. Route the two wires through the hole. Use the tweezers to carefully bend the circuit board back onto the bottom shell of the battery. Place the micro switch.
Cut a hole in the top shell of the battery that lines up with the hole cut in the bottom shell. Apply bonding glue to the rim of the top shell. Place the top shell so that it lines up with the bottom shell and you can see the micro switch through the hole in the top shell. Hold the top shell to the bottom shell until the bonding glue seals them together. Let the bonding glue set.
Press the micro switch once. Put the battery back into the battery compartment of the PSP. Close the battery compartment. Turn on the PSP.
