How to Fix Broken PSP Games

The PlayStation portable video game console uses universal mini discs (UMD) to play games. The UMD spins inside a protective plastic case that holds it in position inside of the PSP̵7;s disc drive. A broken plastic case keeps the UMD from spinning and renders the game unplayable. Fixing a broken PSP game can be done within a few minutes, provided you have a replacement plastic case available. These can be obtained from a free demonstration UMD PSP game, which can be found in gaming magazines or at your local video game store.

Take the UMD PSP game with the broken plastic case and insert the jeweler's screwdriver into the seam between the front and back halves of the plastic case. Wiggle the jeweler's screwdriver to separate the two halves of the plastic case. Remove the UMD from the separated halves and put it down on the soft cloth with the printed text and picture side facing up. Discard the broken halves of the plastic case.

Pick up the back half of the UMD demonstration disc's plastic case. Apply bonding glue around the rim of the half. Place the half down over the UMD disc and flat up against the front half. Make sure the cut out slot of the back half is facing you at the nine o'clock position. Hold the two halves together until the bonding glue takes hold. Let the bonding glue set.
