How to Fix the Internet Connection on a PSP

When Sony introduced its portable Playstation gaming console, people were anticipating a new kind of gaming system -- one that was capable of not only playing games, but also watching movies, listening to music and browsing the Internet. The PSP has impressive Internet capabilities with the ability to actually play games over the Playstation Network, but sometimes getting online with your PSP is a little tricky. If you have mistakenly entered in the wrong settings you will need to fix them in order to get online with your PSP.

Make sure your router is working properly by making sure the light next to the word "Internet" is on or blinking. If it is not, unplug all of the cables from the router, wait 30 seconds and plug them all back in. Wait for the router to reboot. It should connect itself back online.

Turn your PSP on and navigate to the Internet settings on the PSP's settings menu. Select New Connection and then select Scan to have your PSP look for the available wireless networks. Once the scan is complete, select your wireless router from the list of available access points.

Enter in the security key you created when you first set up your router. If you did not make a security key when you set up your router, just select "none" when prompted. Press the X button to save the connection you just created.

Select Test Connection on the last page of the Network Settings setup page. This will make sure everything is working properly, and that your PSP has all of its functions online. Once the test is complete, it will say Succeeded.
