How to Connect a PSP to the Internet with a Computer

With the rise of online gaming and the increasing popularity of digital distribution, Sony's hand-held video game console, the PSP, can connect to the Internet using built in wireless support. Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to connect your PSP than simply turning the device on. For gamers having trouble connecting to their home network, you can use your computer during the initial setup to act as a bridge between your PSP and router. Use your computer to adjust your connection settings while gathering information needed to ensure your PSP can connect using your network.

Select the option for "Wireless Access Point" and make sure it is listed as enabled. Do the same with "Allow Broadcast of SSID." Under the menu item for "Authentication," select "Open System." This will prepare your network to accept the PSP.

Turn on your PSP and make sure the WLAN switch has been set to "Enabled." This switch is located on the top of your PSP.

    • 7

Navigate to "Network Settings" on the far left of the cross media bar. Press "X" to select this option then choose "Infrastrtucture Mode" from the next screen. Select "New Connection" and then "Scan" to begin the connection with your computer and router.
