Instructions
Upgrade via USB Cable
Download the latest firmware update. The most reliable source for the EBOOT.PBP file is the Official Sony PSP website. Save this file to an easily accessible area on your computer.
Attach the USB cable to your PC, and the Mini-B end to the PSP. Ensure the PSP is fully charged or plugged into an outlet when beginning this process.
On the PSP, navigate to "System Settings" and select "USB Connection." Your PC will recognize the PSP under the removable disk section of "My Computer." Your Memory Stick Duo should be in your PSP.
On your PC, navigate to the removable disk (PSP) and click on it. Once inside, click on the "PSP" folder, then "GAMES." Create a folder, in all capital letters, called "UPDATE" inside the "GAMES" folder.
Drag and drop the EBOOT.PBP firmware file into the "UPDATE" folder.
Disconnect and remove the PSP from the PC when the transfer is complete.
On your PSP's menu bar, navigate to "Games" and select "Memory Stick" to see the PSP Update Version X.XX that you transferred to the PSP.
Select "PSP UPDATE VERSION X.XX" and follow the remaining on-screen prompts to update your PSP firmware.
Wireless Network Update
Ensure your PSP's wireless connection is in infrastructure mode, and that the PSP is connected to a wireless network.
Navigate to "System Settings" then "Network Update."
The PSP will search for firmware updates. If one is found, then it will begin the download and installation process.
Update via UMD Disc
Insert a UMD disc into the UMD media drive on the PSP.
On the PSP menu, navigate to "Games," and then choose "PSP Update." The installation process will begin if the firmware version is newer than the current one.
Accept the License Agreement and the update will begin.
