Turn on your PC and then open up a web browsing program by double clicking on its desktop icon. Navigate your web browser to the "PSP Messenger" website (see Resources below).
Click on the blue "Download" button and then click on "Softpedia Mirror US" once the new page loads. Wait a moment for a new window to appear and then click on "Save File" to download the program.
Open the folder on your computer's hard drive where your downloaded files are saved to. Find the PSP Messenger file and right click on it. Choose "Unzip here" from the menu screen that will pop up.
Connect a USB cable from your PSP to an open USB port on your computer. Press the "Home" button on the PSP and then select the "Settings" menu. Highlight the option that says "USB Connection" and then press the "X" button.
Click on the link that says "Open a folder to view files" when a new window appears on your computer screen. Double click on the folder named "PSP."
Check to see if there is a folder titled "Common." Right click anywhere in the window and select "New" and then "Folder" if there isn't already a "Common" folder. Name the new folder "Common." Double click on the "Common" folder.
Navigate back to the first window and click on the PSP Messenger program that you unzipped. Drag it over into the "Common" folder. Close the open windows and then remove the USB cable from your computer.
Open the internet browsing program on your PSP and highlight the address bar. Type in "File:/PSP/COMMON/PSPMSG/index.html" and press the "X" button to access Yahoo Messenger on your PSP.
