How to Find the UMD Cache on a PSP

A Universal Media Disc (UMD) is an optical disc formatted for use with Sony̵7;s PlayStation Portable system. The UMD Cache is a system setting available on PSP models in the 2000 and 3000 series. If the UMD Cache system setting is enabled the PSP will set aside a place in its system memory to temporarily store regularly used files from a UMD. This can speed up the PSP̵7;s response time when reading from a UMD.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on the PSP.

    • 2

      Navigate to ̶0;Settings̶1; and ̶0;System Settings̶1; in the PSP XrossMediaBar.

    • 3

      Select ̶0;UMD Cache.̶1;

    • 4

      Set the UMD Cache setting to ̶0;On̶1; if you want to store regularly used UMD files in your PSP̵7;s system memory. This will reduce the number of times the PSP has to read files from the inserted UMD, increasing its data-read speed. Set the UMD Cache setting to ̶0;Off̶1; if you do not want to store any UMD files in your PSP̵7;s system memory.
