How to Make a Signal Booster for a PSP Slim

The PlayStation Portable Slim, or PSP Slim, is a portable game console that connects to a wireless network to access the Internet. You can boost the signal strength of the internal antenna without having to disassemble or physical alter the PSP. The procedure is straightforward and can be reversed at any time. Household supplies are all that is needed.

Things You'll Need

Aluminum foil roll
Ruler
Scissors
Cellophane tape

Instructions

  Tear off a 6-inch piece of aluminum foil from the roll. Place the foil horizontally on a table, and fold the left side of the foil over to the right side. Smooth the crease down with your finger.

  Fold the top edge of the foil down to the bottom edge. Smooth the crease down. Repeat this procedure two more times.

  Make a second strip of aluminum foil in the same manner as the one that was just made. Measure halfway across the length of the strip. Cut through the halfway mark with scissors.

  Place a hand towel on a table. Place the PSP Slim on the towel face down with the top edge farthest from you.

  Hold the strip of foil horizontally. Place the foil against the bottom edge of the PSP so that it overlaps. Tape the foil to the PSP at the side, and at the top edge with strips of cellophane tape.

  Tape one end of one of the two cut strips of foil to the left edge of the foil that is overlapping the PSP. Tape an end of the other cut strip of foil to the right edge of the foil.

  Grip the foil at both ends where it overlaps the PSP. Push the foil up toward the top of the PSP so that the ends of the two strips are aimed at a 45-degree angle.

  Turn the PSP over, and hold it horizontally. Press up on the power switch at the bottom right edge to turn it on.
