"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories" for the Sony PSP is a prequel to the PlayStation 2 version of "Vice City." Both feature non-linear gameplay that requires players to accomplish missions if they want to advance the plot. The game map in Vice City Stories is large, but not all areas of the game are accessible before certain missions have been cleared. This includes the bridge leading to the east island.

Play through the missions until you get to mission 30, "From Zero to Hero."

Activate the mission by walking into the glowing area in front of the "1412" hotel.

Once you have completed the mission, head to the east-island bridge. The gate will now be open, allowing access to the island for the remainder of the game.
