How to Fix the Tilt in a PS3 Rock Band Guitar

"Rock Band" is an entertaining video game which allows up to four players to play plastic instrument replicas as a "band," with the goal of scoring as many points as possible. One of the methods for racking up points requires effective usage of "overdrive," which can be gained by hitting specifically designated sequences of notes correctly. Overdrive is then activated by tilting the head of the guitar upward. However, sometimes the tilt does not work correctly on the PS3 "Rock Band" guitar, so it must be fixed.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the guitar by removing all of the screws on the back of the guitar. Place all of the screws in a safe place so they don't get lost.

    • 2

Place the guitar on its back so that all of the circuitry is visible.

    • 3

Locate the tilt sensor. It is a light brown board held in place on either side by two black fasteners. On the board is a single black cylinder. The tilt sensor is located directly next to the white strum bar mechanism.

    • 4

Remove the glue that is holding the tilt sensor in place by scraping the glue with a nail or toothpick.

    • 5

Remove both of the screws that are holding the tilt sensor in place.

    • 6

Lift out the tilt sensor and reposition it in the fasteners so the sensor is lying horizontally, with the black cylinder facing upwards. You should be able to securely snap the sensor into this position, but you may use tape or glue to secure it if necessary.

    • 7

Reassemble the guitar and replace the screws that you removed in Step 1.
