My Guitar Won't Sync With Rock Band

The "Rock Band" series of music video games lets gamers play along with popular songs using guitar, drum and microphone controllers. The guitar controller operates wirelessly, and connects to the game console via a wireless signal adapter plugged into the console's USB port. The guitar controller and wireless adapter must be synchronized in order to communicate with each other and function properly. A guitar that does not sync with the game may be the result of an improper setup or a faulty controller.

  Plug the wireless signal adapter that came with your guitar into a USB port on your game console. Insert the "Rock Band" game disc and press the sync button on the adapter. Try using a different USB port if the LED light on the adapter does not turn on.

  Slide the guitar controller's power switch to "ON" and press the power button on the front of the controller. If the LED light on the controller does not turn on, check to ensure that fresh batteries are properly inserted into the guitar controller's battery compartment.

  Remove any wireless signal devices that may be interfering with either the adapter or the controller. Cell phones and wireless game controllers may cause interference if they are placed next to the adapter or guitar controller.

  Ensure that you are using the correct peripheral for your game. Though "Guitar Hero" guitar controllers should work with "Rock Band" games on the same game console, the controllers will not work across consoles; a Wii "Rock Band" guitar will not work with games on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, for example. If you are using a PS3, make sure you have the latest firmware update to ensure compatibility between "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" controllers.
