Things You'll Need
Instructions
Download the music patch of your choice for the version of "Pokemon" you are playing. Many gaming fans create their own patches with different mixes of music, then post them online for free (see Resources).
Un-compress the file, if required. Many freeware programs are available to un-compress .rar and .zip files, including WinZip and WinRAR. Save the un-compressed files into the same folder as the ROM for easy locating later.
Open your patching program and open the "New Patch" window. In IPS.exe, this can be done by clicking "Create New Patch from IPS File" on the launch page, though this varies by program.
Click the "Patch File" field and select the un-compressed patch file in the ROM folder.
Click the "ROM File" or "File Name of File to Patch" field. Select the ROM file you normally use to launch the game. Ensure the "Save As" field has the same extension as the current ROM extension and click Next.
Save the newly created patch to any location that is easy to find. Select the "Patch Applier" function in your program.
Make sure the "ROM File" or "File Name of File to Patch" field is still the ROM you are trying to patch. If the field is blank, click the field and re-select the "Pokemon" ROM. Press "OK."
Close the patching program, then reopen the ROM. The ROM will automatically begin with the new music.
