How to Enter Rock Band Codes With Guitar Hero Guitars

"Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero" are video game franchises in which you can use guitar controllers to play songs in sync with scrolling notes displayed on the screen. Each franchise releases a new guitar controller with each successive release of its software games. This could mean a large accumulation of guitar controllers if you acquired a new one with each game. You're not required to purchase a new guitar for each game, and older guitars can be used to control menu navigation. It's even possible to use "Guitar Hero" controllers in "Rock Band" games.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your video game console, and then insert the "Rock Band" disc into the drive on the console.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Rock Band" icon on your console and select it to launch the game.

    • 3

Turn on your guitar, and then press the "Sync" button on your guitar. For wireless Wii guitars, remove the battery compartment cover on the back of your Wiimote and press the red "Sync" button. For wired guitars, insert the USB cable into an available USB slot on your console.

    • 4

Press the "Sync" button on your console. For the PS3 wireless guitar, plug the wireless dongle into a USB port, and then press the "Sync" button on the dongle. On the Nintendo Wii, open the door on the front of the console to press the "Sync" button. On the Xbox 360, push the "Sync" button on the front of the console.

    • 5

Wait for the "Rock Band" title screen to display on your screen. The title screen says "Press START button" at the bottom of the screen. On other versions of "Rock Band" games, the codes must be entered on the "Modify Game" menu accessed through the "Extras" menu.

    • 6

Press the fret buttons on the guitar that correspond to the fret button color identified in your cheat code. For example, the "Unlock All Songs" cheat code in "Rock Band" is "Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue."
