How to Set Up a Super Nintendo on an HDTV

Unlike newer video game consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released before HDTV sets were available and does not have the ability to produce a high-definition image. Although it cannot produce high-definition images, connecting the console to an HDTV still allows you to play the games in their original quality. Use the standard Super Nintendo cables to connect the console to any HDTV and enjoy your favorite classic games.

  Find the HDTV's audio/video inputs. These inputs are typically located on the back or side of the HDTV and are colored yellow, red and white.

  Plug the Super Nintendo's red, white, and yellow AV cables into the corresponding "Audio In" and "Video In" inputs on the HDTV.

  Plug the gray, rectangular end of the AV cable into the back of the Super Nintendo.

  Insert a game into the console and plug a controller into the far left port.

  Connect the AC adapter to the back of the console, and then plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

  Turn on the Super Nintendo and the HDTV.

  Change the input mode for the HDTV to view video from the console. The button to change the input mode is often labeled "Input" or "Source" on the TV remote. Set the mode to "Aux" or "AV" depending on the HDTV model.
