How to Play Video Games on a Computer Monitor

Although many people play video games on television screens, video games can also be enjoyed on computer monitors. All personal computer games are naturally designed to work on computer monitors. For video games on consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii or Microsoft Xbox 360, the player will need to use Video Graphics Array cables--commonly known as "VGA" cables--to hook the system up to the computer monitor.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a set of VGA cables for your video game system. VGA cables are available at all major electronic retailers. Note that VGA cables are console specific, meaning that if you want to play Xbox 360 games on a computer monitor, you will need to purchase VGA cables designed for the Xbox 360.

    • 2

Unplug the cables you were previously using from your game system and plug the VGA cables into your system.

    • 3

Insert the other end of the VGA cables into your computer monitor's VGA slot. This is easy to find, as it will be the only slot that you can plug the cable into.

    • 4

Turn on your game system and the computer monitor. Note that you may have to adjust your computer monitor's resolution and brightness level to get an acceptable picture, as computer monitors are much more sensitive than traditional television displays.
