Instructions
Play though the game until you beat Xiphos the Deathbringer, the final boss of “Dragon Quest Sword.” The Deathbringer Sword you get when you unlock Payback Mode is his sword.
Watch the ending of the game and the credits. A save prompt will appear at the end of the credits.
Save the game at the save prompt. The game will return to the main menu whether you save the game or not. You must save now or you will have to reload an old save and beat Xiphos the Deathbringer again.
Select “Load Game” from the menu. Select the saved game made after the credits. Claymore will tell you to go to the Olde Reflectory.
Go to the Olde Reflectory. Take the stairs on the right of the village to reach the upper level. Enter the cave on the left, this is the Olde Reflectory. There will be four gray mirrors on the wall.
Enter each mirror to start a boss fight. You need to beat all four bosses to progress. A large gray mirror will appear on the wall. These fights are straightforward, requiring no special tactics.
Enter the large gray mirror to fight Valgrit.
Block Valgrit’s attack. Each time you block his attack, you will get to attack his chest. This is the only opportunity you get to do any noticeable damage against him. One of his heads will fall off after you remove a third of his health.
Hit Valgrit’s fireballs with your sword. The fireballs will be deflected back at his head. Repeat this until a second head falls off.
Block Valgrit’s attacks. As before, you will get to do extra damage to his chest after blocking his attack. Eventually you will defeat Valgrit. Three purple mirrors will appear on the wall of the Olde Reflectory.
Enter each purple mirror to start a boss fight. You will need to beat all three bosses to progress. The purple mirror bosses are just upgraded versions of bosses you have already faced. The most significant change is the higher stats for each boss. Once all three are beaten you will receive the “Dragon Warrior’s Sword” and the final mirror will appear.
Enter the final mirror. You will have to fight all three purple mirror bosses again before facing Edahs’ Sohpix. This time the fights take place consecutively. Edahs’ Sohpix is an upgraded version of Xiphos the Deathbringer. As long as you are at least level 80, you should be able to beat these fights. Beating Edahs’ Sohpix will unlock Payback Mode.
Go the main menu of “Dragon Quest Swords.”
Select “Payback Mode.” You will start a new game with the Deathbringer Sword already equipped.
