'House of the Dead 1, 2 &3'
This critically acclaimed first-person shooter series has a decided arcade flavor, as hordes of the undead attack relentlessly, leaving the gamer to use the Wii wireless remote and Wii nunchuk to defend themselves by blasting zombies. The game also intentionally adds stereotypical support characters (the hard-boiled cop, for instance) with campy, B-movie type dialogue to add to the overall fun.
'Resident Evil'
One of the original zombie related horror game franchises, the "Resident Evil" series focuses on the continued investigation of doomed Raccoon City, whose inhabitants have been transformed into a number of undead incarnations through a scientific mishap. The third-person style game sees members of an elite military unit sent to unravel the mystery, and unlike other zombie games, players have little in the way of ammo and supplies, leading to some interesting decision-making amid the chaos.
'Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop'
"Dead Rising" leads the freelance photojournalist protagonist through a suburban mall infested with legions of the undead. This third-person game allows players to use their environment for defense, as nearly every item found in the mall (food court umbrellas, mannequins) become weapons to beat and bludgeon the slowly moving but deadly horde. The player must also use his camera to take pictures of the mayhem to sell, provided he can make it out of the mall to safety.
