How to Find Friends in Mario Kart

Mario Kart has, for a long time, been a staple party game. The Nintendo Wii version introduced a Wi-fi-connected multiplayer online mode that added a whole level of depth to the game, as it introduced not only the occasional tournament round and special level to the game, but also the ability to play online with others.

Instructions

  1. Adding and Playing with Friends

    • 1

Insert the Mario Kart Wii game disc into the console and start the game. Select or create a user profile.

    • 2

Select Nintendo WFC - 1 Player (or 2 Player, if there are two players using your home console). The game will connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers.

    • 3

Highlight and select "Friends," then open the "Register Friends" screen.

    • 4

Input any Friend Codes you have for new friends, using the on-screen numbers. If you have not collected any from friends or relatives, you can find some online. See Finding Friend Codes Online below.

    • 5

Close the Friend Roster and back out to the Main WFC screen. If you want to play a round with friends, and they have already added your friend code to their Friend Roster, then select Friends Race. Either Join or Create a Room to play with people from your Friend Roster.

    Finding Friend Codes Online

    • 6

Visit a website or forum, such as the two listed in Resources, and locate a thread or post indicating another user's Friend Code. Copy that code onto a piece of paper. You should choose other users you feel you can trust.

    • 7

Send the other user a message, or post on the thread.

    • 8

Add their Friend Code to the Friend Roster on your Mario Kart Wii game.

    • 9

Await confirmation that they have added you to their Friend Roster. You can now play with them using the steps outlined in the first section of this article.
