How to Get Stars on the File Screen in New Super Mario Bros

The New Super Mario Brothers Wii game for the Nintendo Wii gaming console has numerous, hidden, unlockable secrets. One of these are the stars which can be unlocked and displayed on the saved game file on the main menu. These stars provide no additional bonus to the game as they are only there to show how much of the game you have completed. There are five total stars you can unlock on a saved game file.

Instructions

- 1
  Unlock Star 1 by beating the game. All that is required to unlock this star is to beat the final boss battle with Bowser in World 8. You do not need to complete all the levels in each world, so it is possible to obtain this star using warp cannons to skip worlds.

  Collect all 24 star coins in World 9 to get Star 2. Each level has three star coins you can find, some of which are hidden in the levels.

  Obtain Star 3 by beating every level in Worlds 1 through 9. You do not have to find the secret exits in the levels which contain them, you only need to beat each standard level.
- 4
  Get Star 4 by collecting all 207 star coins in Worlds 1 through 8. As with World 9, each level in these worlds contain three star coins.
- 5
  Beat every level, including finding every secret exit in the levels which contain them, and unlock and use all warp cannons to obtain Star 5. You will also need to use all the mushroom huts that appear in the worlds.
