How to Unstick an XBox Controller LB Button

A stuck button on your Xbox controller usually is due to a sticky substance or food wedged between the button and the controller's casing, which limits your ability to push the button down during game play. Similar to other electronic devices, the Xbox controller is easily damaged if water or a cleaning solution is used to clean it. Read your controller's instruction manual carefully prior to cleaning, as damaging it may void your warranty.

Safety pin
Soft, lint-free cleaning cloth

Instructions

  Press the power button on the front of the Xbox console, or press and hold the Xbox Guide button on the controller, to safely turn off the game console.

  Unplug the controller from the console's controller port, and stick the sharp end of the safety pin into the groove of the LB button.

  Drag the pin through groove to remove debris, and wipe the safety pin as dirt and debris build up on it.

  Wipe the controller down with a soft cleaning cloth, and plug it back into the console's controller port.

  Press the power button on the front of the console, to turn on the Xbox.
