How Can I Get My XBox 360 Account Back Into My Hard Drive?

While Xbox 360 gamer profiles can be moved to external storage devices such as hard drives and USB flash drives for use on multiple consoles, users can also delete them completely. However, this profile, or gamertag, is also connected to your Xbox Live account. Luckily, even if you've accidentally deleted it, Microsoft has conceived of a way to restore your gamertag, and thus your account, to your hard drive with an Internet connection.

Instructions

  Press the "guide" button on your Xbox 360 controller and press "X" to sign out of any alternate gamertag you may be using.

  Press the "guide" button one more time and highlight "Recover Gamertag" right under the option "Create Profile." Another menu will pop up.

  Select "Recover Gamertag" from the new menu.

  Enter your Windows Live account info, including ID and password, and press "X" to continue.

  Enter your personal information when prompted.

  Select "Hard Drive" from the list of storage devices to save your gamertag and account info.
