How to Take Keys on 'Call of Duty: Black Ops'

The second mission of "Call of Duty: Black Ops" follows Alex Mason after he is handed over from the Cubans to the Soviets as a gift of their new alliance. The story unfolds as a flashback to October 6, 1963, when Mason attempts to break out of a prison labor camp in Vorkuta, Russia. Viktor Reznov serves as a guide through the level, leading the way while Mason provides cover for his fellow escaping inmates. The level begins with step one, "Secure the Keys."

Instructions

- 1
  Begin the mission "Vorkuta" by watching the opening cut scene of Mason speaking with the interrogator about his time in the prison camp. The scene leads a flashback of Mason and Reznov staging a fight to grab the guard's attention. Reznov taunts the guard into hitting him, at which point Mason grabs a rock from the ground.

  Use a melee attack on the guard to knock him out. Once the guard is out, Reznov grabs the keys. This is all automatic, as the scene is designed to be a cinematic that plays out in only one way. Reznov uses the keys to open the cell door and the prisoners rush out, storming the guards. Mason is giving a prison knife to cut through any threats.

  Follow Reznov and the other prisoners through the labor camp, meeting Reznov's comrade Sergei along the way. The horde waits at the freight elevator for Mason before the story can progress.

  Ride the freight elevator up. Reznov and another Russian prisoner question whether they can trust an American. At the top, Sergei uses an an axe to slaughter a guard.

  Pick up the guard's pistol and procedure toward the door. From here, the mission carries on in a more interactive and normal first-person-shooter style with firing on enemies while using cover to escape the machine guns. Throughout the level, Reznov continues to use the keys while Mason provides cover.
