Backing Up Gamertag to an Xbox 360 USB

The choice of Gamertag when creating an Xbox Live account establishes an online identity for the Xbox 360 owner. Gamertag owners must create online avatars to represent themselves, as well as choose unique user names, a process which often makes gaming experiences personalized. If you play games on another Xbox 360, you can copy your Gamertag onto a USB memory device, and transfer that Gamertag between systems.

  Insert the USB storage device into an empty USB slot on the front of the Xbox 360.

  Highlight "System Settings" in the "My Xbox" menu, and then press controller button "A."

  Scroll down to "Memory," and then press "A."

  Press "A" again after highlighting "All Devices."

  Scroll down to "Gamer Profiles," then press "A."

  Select "Move," and then choose "USB Storage Device" as the destination drive. Your Gamertag will backup onto the USB storage device.

  Insert the USB storage device into the USB slot on another Xbox 360 to use your Gamertag on that system.
