How to Direct Connect With an XBox 360

Xbox Live is the official matchmaking and content distribution service for the Xbox 360. In addition to multiplayer matchmaking, Xbox Live also allows you to download music, movies, TV shows and additional content for your games. A direct Internet connection is a wired connection that connects the Xbox directly to your broadband (cable or DSL) modem. There is virtually no setup involved when using a direct connection, and the performance of such a connection is usually better than a wireless connection as there is no wireless interference.
