How to Find My Xbox 360 Port Number

Some gamers have trouble playing online because certain ports on their routers need to be set to direct to their Xbox 360. By logging into your router's administration page and opening those ports, connectivity can be improved.

Router administration pages are accessed from a computer on the network with a password. Open a web browser and go to the IP address of your router. This address varies by brand.

Linksys routers will be 192.168.1.1. Netgears and D-Links will be 192.168.0.1. If not previously accessed, routers will have a default password from the manufacturer that can be found in the manual. Generally, Linksys routers will have a user name of "admin" and a blank password. Netgear routers by default have the username "admin" and a password of "password." D-Links have various passwords. A resource is available below for help with D-Link passwords.

All routers will have an administration page that lists all connected devices. Look for this page and find your Xbox. If you are unsure which device it is, unplug all other devices and look for the only remaining one on the list. Take note of its IP address.

Look for a page that allows you to use port forwarding. Add the following ports to port forwarding and forward them to your Xbox's IP address:

      88 (UDP)

      3074 (UDP)

      3074 (TCP)
