How to Learn Tracks With Xbox 360 Games

Racing games on the Xbox 360 offer a practical way of learning the layout of real-world tracks from the comfort of your own living room. There are several titles on the console that feature classic tracks such as Le Mans, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Silverstone and Nurburgring. Examples are "Forza Motorsport 3," "F1 2010" or "Project Gotham Racing 4." For this example, we will be using FM3 because it offers the most comprehensive selection of real world race tracks on your Xbox 360.

Instructions

  On the main menu screen, select "Free Play."

  Select "Quick Race" or "Hot Lap." Select the former to race against other cars or the latter to go solo and set the best track time.

  Choose which car and real-world track you want to race or practice on; all are available from the beginning and none need to be unlocked by playing through the career mode.

  Start your session. Practice getting faster and faster lap times. Playing the track repeatedly will mean you learn the layout of the track over time.
