How to Hook Up the Component Cables for an Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 video game system includes multiple video output options, including HDMI, DVI and composite. One of the most common connections utilizes component cables, which come standard in most of the console's packages. Use your component cable to view your games in crisp high-definition format.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the component output end into the back of your Xbox 360.

    • 2

Set the component cable's output to "HDTV." The switch is located near the base of the output plug-in.

    • 3

Plug the five color-coded input connectors into their respective slots on your HDTV. Refer to your TV's manual if you do not know what your component input plug-in looks like.

    • 4

Turn on the console and open the Xbox 360's "System Settings."

    • 5

      Go to "Console Settings."

    • 6

      Choose "Display."

    • 7

      Open "HDTV Settings."

    • 8

Choose the highest possible resolution allowed by your HDTV. See your owner's manual if you do not know the highest resolution.
